人文歷史
吉縣蘋果于1959年原縣辦紅旗林場種植生產(chǎn)，主栽品種國光，授粉品種為紅玉。蘋果產(chǎn)業(yè)經(jīng)“六十年代引進試點、八十年代創(chuàng)建樣板、九十年代擴張規(guī)模、2009年后提質(zhì)增效”迭代發(fā)展，歷屆縣委、縣政府持續(xù)接力，久久為功，屢獲殊榮。
地理標志簡要紀事———
2010年4月2日，吉縣蘋果獲農(nóng)業(yè)部農(nóng)產(chǎn)品地理標志登記；
2013年8月21日，吉縣蘋果注冊地理標志證明商標；
2020年7月20日，吉縣蘋果入選中歐地理標志協(xié)定互認名單；
2021年8月27日，吉縣蘋果國家地理標志產(chǎn)品保護示范區(qū)籌建；
2023年6月13日，吉縣蘋果地理標志證明商標核準續(xù)展；
2023年7月8日，吉縣蘋果申請國知局地理標志保護產(chǎn)品認定。
Humanistic History
Jixian apples were planted and produced in the Hongqi Forest Farm of the original county in 1959, with the main variety being Guoguang and the pollinated variety being Hongyu. On April 2, 2010, Jixian apples were registered as geographical indications for agricultural products by the Ministry of Agriculture;
On August 21, 2013, Jixian Apple registered a geographical indication certification trademark;
On July 20, 2020, Jixian apples were selected for the mutual recognition list of the China Europe Geographical Indication Agreement;
On August 27, 2021, the Jixian Apple National Geographical Indication Product Protection Demonstration Plot was established;
On June 13, 2023, the geographical indication certification trademark of Jixian Apple was approved for renewal of registration;

吉縣地處山西省西南部、呂梁山南端、黃河中游東岸，屬黃土高原殘塬溝壑區(qū)。吉縣屬暖溫帶大陸性季風氣候，四季分明，春季干旱多風，夏季涼爽宜人，秋季降雨集中，冬季寒冷干燥。相對其他蘋果產(chǎn)區(qū)，吉縣海拔高，溫差大，光照充足，沒有污染，無霜期較長，加之土層深厚，節(jié)令分明，非常適宜蘋果生長和果品糖分、營養(yǎng)物質(zhì)積累，被國家農(nóng)業(yè)部果樹專家評為全國蘋果最佳優(yōu)生區(qū)之一，種植蘋果擁有“六個最適宜”：
一是緯度最適宜，處于北緯35°~36°；
二是海拔最適宜，800~1200米；
三是土壤最適宜，土層深厚，抗旱排澇，酸堿度適宜；
四是溫差最適宜，晝夜溫差平均11.5 ℃；
五是光照最適宜，年均2395.5小時；
六是空氣質(zhì)量最適宜，無工業(yè)污染，森林覆蓋率47%，正是這六個關鍵因素成就了吉縣蘋果的特色質(zhì)量。
保護范圍：吉縣吉昌鎮(zhèn)、屯里鎮(zhèn)、壺口鎮(zhèn)、車城鄉(xiāng)、文城鄉(xiāng)、柏山寺鄉(xiāng)、中垛鄉(xiāng)3鎮(zhèn)4鄉(xiāng)。
Origin environment
Jixian belongs to a warm temperate continental monsoon climate with distinct four seasons. Spring is dry and windy, summer is cool and pleasant, autumn rainfall is concentrated, and winter is cold and dry. Compared to other apple producing areas, Jixian County has a high altitude, large temperature difference, sufficient sunlight, no pollution, and a long frost free period. In addition, the deep soil layer and distinct seasons make it very suitable for apple growth and the accumulation of fruit sugar and nutrients. It has been rated by fruit tree experts from the Ministry of Agriculture as one of the best apple producing areas in China, and has "six most suitable" for apple cultivation:
First one is the most suitable latitude, located at 35 °~36 ° N;
The second is the most suitable altitude, 800-1200 meters;
The third is the most suitable soil, with a deep soil layer, drought and flood resistance, and suitable acidity and alkalinity;

近年來，吉縣縣委、縣政府以做強做優(yōu)“紅色蘋果”品牌為目標，以“四化四統(tǒng)一”為抓手，全力推進蘋果產(chǎn)業(yè)提質(zhì)升級，使全縣蘋果產(chǎn)業(yè)實現(xiàn)了“5個80%”以上，即：蘋果面積占耕地總面積的80%以上，蘋果專業(yè)村占行政村的80%以上，果農(nóng)占農(nóng)民總數(shù)的80%以上，果農(nóng)人均果品收入占農(nóng)村居民人均可支配收入的80%以上，全縣農(nóng)村群眾依靠蘋果產(chǎn)業(yè)脫貧的比例達80%以上。蘋果產(chǎn)業(yè)成為全縣的特色產(chǎn)業(yè)、主導產(chǎn)業(yè)，農(nóng)民的致富產(chǎn)業(yè)、支撐產(chǎn)業(yè)。
全縣蘋果面積穩(wěn)定在28萬畝，總產(chǎn)量達到25萬噸，產(chǎn)值達到15億元，果農(nóng)人均果品收入上萬元，成功帶動2.3萬貧困人口脫貧摘帽；全縣擁有果品深加工企業(yè)兩個，年產(chǎn)量6500噸，年銷售額5000萬元；果品包裝企業(yè)16個，年銷售額4700萬元；蘋果貯藏庫48座，年貯藏能力15萬噸，實現(xiàn)了季產(chǎn)年銷、均衡上市。
“一業(yè)興、百業(yè)旺”，生產(chǎn)有基地、加工有企業(yè)、銷售有渠道，蘋果產(chǎn)業(yè)拓寬了餐飲、運輸、信息、包裝等相關行業(yè)的增收渠道，推動了全產(chǎn)業(yè)鏈融合發(fā)展，提高了區(qū)域特色經(jīng)濟綜合效益。
2020年，中國和歐盟正式簽署中歐地理標志協(xié)定，2021年3月1日，中歐地理標志協(xié)定正式生效。截至目前雙方累計實現(xiàn)244個地理標志產(chǎn)品的互認互保。其中，“吉縣蘋果”與“山西老陳醋”一同入選首批歐盟地理標志協(xié)定保護名錄。
